It feels like it was only just the end of August, when the warmer Summer weather finally began to hang around, but, as fast as it arrived, Fall was upon us with cooler temperatures and that all to common “liquid sunshine” we are so accustomed to here on the wet coast.

I finally came to the realization today that tomorrow brings with it not only Halloween, but the end of October, a month during which I don’t even think I stopped to smell the flowers for very long, yet still a good month nonetheless, including Thanksgiving and my 31st birthday, of which I finally am feeling closer to my age, maybe that’s the change of mind I’ve been needing, though having kids certainly will force you to grow up if you haven’t already.

With regards to the trailer project, I haven’t forgotten about, it’s just been pushed down the list, trumped by other more important tasks requiring my time. I do intend to get the roof covering glued on sometime during November so we may park at least one of our vehicles inside the garage for the forthcoming Winter, of which we have been told is to be a doozy.

We like the snow in our house, whilst many of our family and friends will think we are nuts, it’s just how we are, every last one of us, well, I suppose this year’s newest addition to our family has yet to find out, but I’m sure she’ll like it just as much, otherwise she’s just going to have to suffer while we enjoy.

When Black Friday was coming up in 2008, I became aware of several websites that would post the flyers and deals ahead of time. Being in Canada, Black Friday really isn’t “celebrated” but we have Boxing Day which is about the same. Well, I found a website that posted the boxing day flyers a week or so before they formally came out. This was great as it allowed me to plan a bit for deals the day after Christmas.

Fast forward a few months and I became interested in coupons and the art of “couponing”. Since then, our household has really become quite the savings machine. Below are a few of the resources we regularly utilize for coupons, deals as well as a few sites I personally recommend for product quality, service and value. If you know of other sites, please add them in the comments.

This past week I have been able to return to the trailer roof project. I’ve now re-attached the roof to the lifts and it just needs a bit of adjustment as far as lift height goes but I’ll take care of that soon. I’ve also finished removing the sink and stove as we don’t use them and I’m not even sure if they are functional. The open counter space will be a welcome addition for us. The last step will be to apply the roof skin, of which will likely be vinyl decking. Weight-wise I’m not much heavier at the moment and quite happy with how things are going. Here’s a few pics.

<a title="I recessed the nut ends so they are flush with the wood.

Yes, I know, it’s been a slow process but I am getting bits done. With a pregnant wife and many other facets of life taking my spare time I find it hard to devote any length of time to the project other than small shots in the evenings here and there.

I have managed to re-attached the lower aluminum track to the roof and it fits perfectly. Next step is to drop the roof down and drill the holes for the lift mounts and get those attached. Once that is done I will go out and get the roofing material, of which I still haven’t decided what to use. I’m leaning towards using the vinyl decking, but I may go with roll-on product alternatively. My aim is to keep it as light as possible since my roof structure is a bit heavier with the added height and better wood construction.

With any luck, this weekend will have the roof completely reconnected to the trailer and a milestone will be passed with this project. I have new flooring for the trailer but that may be a next-winter project, we’ll see.

Found some time tonight to finish changing out the driver’s side front lift cable. Once I found the hole in the floor for the cable it really was an easy job. I do plan to replace the curb side as well but it can wait for now. I really want to get the roof structure re-attached and get the roofing material at least purchased and cut to fit within the month.

Here’s some pictures of the roof sitting on stands so I can do some final fit testing and get the aluminum trim re-attached before connecting the lift jacks. I want to make sure I put the holes in the right spot before finalizing everything.
